WILMA NOWELL LANIER
October 11, 1930 – April 1, 2014
ZEBULON – Wilma Nowell Lanier, 83, died Tuesday. A native of Wake County she was the daughter of the late Robert Marcus & Zelma Hocutt Nowell. Mrs. Lanier was a truly kind woman who thought more of others than herself. She loved her family more than anything. Wilma was a longtime member and active volunteer of the Zebulon Baptist Church, a member of the Faithful Workers Sunday School Class and Zebulon Lion’s Club Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 57 years, Melvin Mainer Lanier, infant son, Melvin Kenneth Lanier, infant granddaughter, Angela Faith Lanier, siblings, Kathaleen, Rosaleen, Yvonne, and Marcus Lanier Jr. and Nathan Batten.
She is survived by her sons, Robert Lanier & wife Cheryl, Tim Lanier & wife June, Gerald Lanier & wife Gina, all of Zebulon, grandchildren, Inga Beck (Joe), Paxton Lanier (fiancé, Kate Jones), Jason Lanier (Tara), Joshua Lanier, Stephanie Lanier, David Lanier, and great grandchildren, Dyson, Keegan, & Cullen Beck, Preston & Karis Lanier, Braxton Watson, and Greyson Lanier, and brother, Kenneth” Buck” Nowell.
Flowers welcomed or memorials may be made to Zebulon Baptist Church, Faith Challenge.
Funeral service, 2 pm, Friday, Zebulon Baptist Church with visitation from 12:30 pm – 2 pm, prior to the service. Interment will follow in the Zebulon Town Cemetery.
