William Ernest Lumley

C.S.M. William Ernest Lumley, Ret. Army National Guard, age 82, of Sarasota, Florida, and Middlesex, NC. went to be with the Lord on May 23, 2016 at his residence in Sarasota. Ernest, as he liked to be called, was born Dec. 17, 1933 in Durham, NC. to William Henry Lumley & Minnie Florine Dean. Ernest was a member of the Liberty Baptist Church in Sarasota, retired from NC. D.O.T. as a purchasing agent of 23 years, Mayor of Morrisville, NC of 14 years, and Ford Motor Company in Raleigh, NC of 29 years. Ernest was awarded the Order of the Long Leaf Pine Award, the highest civilian award achievable in NC. by Gov. Jim Hunt of the state of North Carolina. As well as author of his book entitled, An Autobiography of William Ernest Lumley. Preceded in death by Parents, wife Evelyn Crabtree Lumley, and daughter Diane Moore. Ernest is survived by his wife Barbara Lumley, son Glen (Debra) Lumley of Wendell, NC., son Darrell (Kimberlie) Lumley of Zebulon, NC., son Harrell(Carol) Lumley of Zebulon, NC., son Greg (Michelle) Lumley of Bailey, NC.,  Son in Law Frank Moore of Brunswick, Ga., 6 Step Children, Tom (Barbara) Perry of Hartville, OH., Kathy (Terry) Stimmel of Louisville, OH., Beth (Larry) Archer of Sarasota, FL., Kelly Cozart of Katy Texas, Tracy (Ben) Perry of Canton, OH., Ruth (Rich) Picot of N. Canton, OH.,  Siblings Odell Lumley of Cary, NC., Harvey Lumley of Morrisville, NC., Larry Lumley of Cary, NC., Willard Lumley of Richlands, NC., Geraldine Lumley of Middlesex, NC., ½ Brother Keith (Katie) of Mocksville, NC., ½ Sister Dena Lumley Wilson of Mocksville, NC., ½ Sister Diane Duke of Morrisville, NC.,  9 Grandchildren, 19 Step Grandchildren, 19 Step Great Grandchildren, and countless Nieces and Nephews. Visitation will be at Middlesex Baptist Church, Middlesex, NC. on Friday May 27, 2016 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM with the funeral service Saturday May 28, 2016 at 11AM at Hephzibah Baptist Church in Wendell, N.C. followed by Internment at Hollywood Cemetery in Middlesex, NC.  A Memorial Service will be held at a later date in Sarasota, FL.
