Ruth Pace Collins

Zebulon-Ruth Pace Collins, 89, passed away peacefully at her home on September 5th. She was born on December 2, 1932, to the late Charlie Boy and Annie Ruth Mangum Pace.

She graduated from Wakelon High School in 1951. Ruth worked in State Government with the Employment Security Commission for over 20 years in both the Raleigh and Farmville, NC offices. After retiring, she and her husband, Ralph moved to Farmville, Virginia until his passing in 1995, and then she returned to Zebulon. Ruth was a member of Wakefield Central Baptist Church where she served on various committees and coordinated the Women on Missions group for many years. She enjoyed traveling, playing golf, watching birds from her sunroom, and especially spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 21 years, Ralph Collins, her brothers Charles Wayne and Bobby Allen Pace, and her sisters Margaret Whitley and Rose Gay.

Funeral Service 2:00pm, Thursday, September 8th, at Wakefield Central Baptist Church with internment to follow at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens.

Ruth is survived by her brother, Vic Pace, and sister, Julia Creech (Penny), 16 nieces and nephews, 21 great nieces and nephews, and 11 great-great nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wakefield Central Baptist Church International Missions, 308 Proctor Street, Zebulon, NC  27597.

Visitation Thursday 1:00-2:00pm at Wakefield Central Baptist Church and other times at the home of Penny and Julia Creech.

Arrangements are entrusted to Strickland Funeral Home & Crematory, 211 W. Third St., Wendell, NC 27591.
