January 24, 1958 – November 4, 2015

ZEBULON – Robert Simeon Doby, 57, died Wednesday.  He was a native of Wake County.  Robert worked with the City of Raleigh and was an instructor in all facets of plumbing for 20 years at Wake Technical Community College.  Robert was a people person.  He was affectionately known as the “Egg Man” for taking eggs to shut ins at Wakefield Central Baptist Church.  He also served as a deacon, played the 12 string, and taught Sunday school there.  He also liked model trains.  His father, Charles Simeon Doby preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Saundra Lanning Doby of the home, son, Joshua Robert Doby of Chattanooga, TN, mother, Ruth Sawyer Doby, siblings, Timothy Doby (Susan) of Fuquay-Varina, & Steve Doby (Aulya Maysita) of Raleigh.

Flowers welcomed or memorials may be made to Wakefield Central Baptist Church Building Fund.

Memorial service 3 pm, Sunday, Wakefield Central Baptist Church with visitation from 1:30 – 3 pm, prior to the service.

Arrangements are with Strickland Funeral Home, 211 W. Third St., Wendell.

    Robert was a God-fearing righteous family man. I knew him when I was 16. He gave me a beautiful bible that I will cherish for life. I know he served God first in all that he did and was truly blessed for it and is in His Father’s house praising with the angels
