Robert Lee Jones
September 1, 1936 – January 6, 2025

Robert Lee Jones, 88, of Zebulon, NC, passed away at his home on January 6, 2025. He was born September 1, 1936, in Wilson County, to the late Alvester Jones and Rosa Lee Cook Jones.

Robert was a proud “girl dad” and shared an especially close bond with his daughter, Pam. He was deeply involved in Pam’s school life and took immense pride in supporting her in any way he could.

Throughout his life, Robert gave generously to his community. He was a proud Jaycee and contributed to the set design for the Miss Zebulon pageant. His contributions to his community included being a key figure in the creation of Little River Park, a project that holds special significance to many in the area. As a devoted deacon at the Zebulon United Methodist Church, he was well-respected by those who knew him for his service and dedication.

In addition to his community service, Robert was known for his performances at the Zebulon High School Band Variety Show, where his silliness and talent brought joy and laughter to many. Robert had a lifelong passion for his work as a printer and was proud of his time spent at Theo Davis Printing alongside his wife, Jean. A true workaholic, he believed in giving back to both his loved ones and his community.

He is survived by his daughter, Pamela “Pam” Hughes (Christopher Thomas Hughes); his sister, Betty Ruth Bunn (Kerbie Bunn); and his sister-in-law, Brenda Jones. Robert was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 66 years, Jean Ray Jones, and his brothers, Marvin R. Jones, Joseph Earl Jones, and Randy Jones.

The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to Robert’s care team—Viviane, Sally, Marie, and Tamika—for their love and unwavering support during this difficult time. The family would also like to extend their gratitude to Heartland Hospice.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm, Thursday, January 9, 2025, at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens, 809 W. Gannon Ave, Zebulon, NC 27597. Rev. Glen Brock will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Robert’s care team by cash or check made out to Pam Hughes.
