Merle Ray Morgan

September 13, 1964 – October 2, 2022

WENDELL – Merle Ray Morgan, 58, left this world too soon on Sunday, October 2 after a short battle with cancer.  He was born in Wake County to the late Horace Ray Morgan and Peggy Carroll Morgan.  Merle was Owner and Operator of MRM Transport, LLC. Trucking was his passion and he drove a truck most of his life as well as farming. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and while he was a man of few words to most, those who were close to him knew he had a lot to say.  In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his twin daughters, Tiffany Lee Morgan and Brittany Marie Morgan.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Linda Richardson Morgan; daughter, Samantha Rae Sledge (Brandon); brothers, Phillip Morgan and Bradley Morgan (Melissa), both of Wendell; sister, Cindy Roberts of Nashville; grandchildren, Makenna Rae Moran, Sterling Ray Sledge and Sawyer Ray Sledge; as well as several cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service will be held at 3 pm, Thursday, October 6, 2022, at Strickland Funeral Home & Crematory Chapel.  Visitation will take place prior to service from 1:30 PM- 3 PM at Strickland Funeral Home & Crematory.  Burial will follow the Funeral Service at Greenmont Cemetery, Wendell.

Flowers are welcomed or contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of Merle.
