WENDELL – Meredith Edwards McArthur, 86, died Monday. She was born in Belhaven to the late Charles & Mattie Wilkinson Edwards. She taught school for over 20 years at both Vaiden Whitley & East Wake High Schools. She was a loving wife, mother, & teacher. She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Norman McArthur and son, Norman Randolph McArthur, Sr.
She is survived by her daughter, Norma McArthur Murphy (Philip) of Graham, sister, Doris Carter of Tarboro, grandchildren, Russell Randolf Scott (Liz), Norman Jonathon Currin, Norman Randolph McArthur, II, Emily Ann McArthur, & Hannah Olivia Murphy, great grandchildren, Emma Rylee & Alexa Jaiden Scott.
Funeral service 2 pm, Friday, Strickland Funeral Home Chapel, 211 W. Third St., Wendell with visitation from 1-2 pm, prior to the service. Burial, Gethsemane Memorial Gardens. www.stricklandfuneralhomes.net
