March 30, 1915 – July 13, 2015

WENDELL – Louise Merritt Earp 100, passed July 13.  Louise was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great, great grandmother, & friend to all.  She was born in Orange County on March 30, 1915 to the late J. H. “Boss” & Agnes Merritt.  She was preceded in death by her husbands, Edward Owen Hobby in 1962 and Earl Samuel Earp in 1993, also her siblings, LeRoy & Freddie Merritt, & Wilma Hardee.  Louise lived in Durham County for 70 years & was a active member of Yates Baptist Church until moving to Wendell in 2003 to live with her daughter.

She is survived by her daughter, Joyce Apple of Wendell, Son, Ed Hobby (Martha) of Winterville, 8 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, & 3 great, great, grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Yates Baptist Church Building Fund, 2819 Chapel Hill Rd., Durham, NC, 27707.

Funeral service 2 pm, Thursday, Yates Baptist Church with visitation from 1-2 pm, prior to the service.  Burial Mt. Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family wishes to give a special thanks to Rita Morris for her love and caregiving.
