Lester Ray Edwards Sr.
October 28, 1935 – July 1 2018
RALEIGH – Lester Ray Edwards Sr., 82, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday. He is at peace and in his final resting place. He served in the US Air-force, worked for the State of NC, and retired from the NC National Guard. Lester always had a story to share and never met a stranger. He achieved many things in his lifetime but will be remembered most for the good man he was and for the love he had for his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jonny Odell Edwards and Edna Brown; siblings, Helen Hege, Dot Adkins, and his twin brother Chester Edwards.
He is survived by his wife Mary Caudel Edwards of the home, Children Leslie Bolick (Dale) of Wendell, Donna Cronin (Tommy) of Knightdale, Lester Ray Edwards JR (Patsy) of Wendell, Joseph Lee Edwards (Taunia) of Knightdale, Siblings Bobby Edwards of Myrtle Beach, Brenda K Gibson (Chuck) of Myrtle Beach and Grandchildren Shannon, Kristen, Jacob, Joe Joe, Trey, Brittany, Delaney, and Jackson.
Flowers welcomed, or memorials may be made to charity of choice.
Funeral Service 1:00 pm, Thursday Strickland Funeral Home Chapel, 211 W. Third St, Wendell with visitation from 12-1, prior to the service. Burial: Historic Oak Wood Cemetery, Raleigh. www.stricklandfuneral.com

He was a very great friend to me and my husband David Flowers. He will be greatly missed, we loved him very much.
