LAWRENCE W. LILES, Sr.
June 16, 1933 – June 21, 2011
ZEBULON – Lawrence Wesley Liles, Sr., 78, died Tuesday. A native of Wake County he was son to the late Richard Wesley Liles & Ejay Johnson. He loved to garden with begonias being his favorite flower. He loved cooking even making sweet potato pies on the morning of his going to be with the Lord. He was a Jaycee for many years where he served as a state officer and won the Jaycee award for his work in designing Little River Park. He served in the U. S. Army and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was an avid Tarheel fan. Above all things he loved his family and adored his grandchildren. Lawrence cherished time spent with his Wakelon Class of 1952. He was preceded in death by child, Leigh Ann Liles, and siblings, Larry “Pete” Liles & Linwood Liles.
Funeral, 11 am, Saturday, Zebulon United Methodist Church. Burial Zebulon Town Cemetery.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Mrs. Jean Richardson Liles, children, Lawrence W. Liles, Jr. (Beverly), Raleigh, Lee Liles, Zebulon, Lawre L. Johnson (Greg), Zebulon, former special daughter-in-law, Sharon, grandchildren, Scotlan, Wren, Garrett, Grant, Richard, Thomas, & John, siblings, Lowell Liles, Raleigh, Linda Pearce (Michael), Raleigh, , sisters-in-law, Shirley Ann Liles, Frances Barry (Tom), Dr. Peggy Richardson, & Carolyn Kayota, special aunt, Mary A. Earp, several nieces, nephews, and special great nieces and nephews.

Visitation 6:30 – 8 pm, Friday, Strickland Funeral Home, 211 W. Third St., Wendell, NC, 27591 and other times at the home.
