JOHN S. BENANE
April 7, 1934 – January 22, 2013
WENDELL – John Stephens Benane, 78, died Tuesday. A native of Dundee, Quebec, Canada, he was son of the late George & Isabelle McPherson Benane. John was a jack of all trades, and a master of them all. He could build anything with amazing skill and competence. He loved to fish but his family meant more to him than anything. He loved to see them smile. He served in the U. S. Army. John was a member of Wendell United Methodist Church for 43 years where he served on various committees.
Memorial funeral service 11 am, Friday, Wendell United Methodist Church. Inurnment to follow in Greenmount Cemetery with military honors.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Patricia A. Hendrickson Benane, children,
Gordon G. Benane (Yaeko) of Spokane, WA, Kathleen B. Askew (Jesse) of Zebulon, Tracey B. Renaud (Paul) of Raleigh, Shelly B. Deters (Vince) of Wake Forest, NC, Marcia B. Townsend of Raleigh, siblings, Alvin G. Benane (Shawnee) of Wendell, Howard K. Benane (Pat) of Meriden, CT, Constance F. Black of Reno, NV, Joyce H. Allen of Barrington, IL, Martha H. Raynor (David) of Tucumcari, NM, Helen L. Hawkins (Howard) of Largo, FL, and 10 grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers memorials are requested to Wendell United Methodist Church or to a Charity of Choice.
