JEAN GLOVER ROBERTS

Nov. 12, 1929 – Jan. 18, 2012

WENDELL – Jean Glover Roberts, 82, become one of God’s angels on Wednesday, and went home to be with Jesus her savior.  Jean is daughter to the late William Turner & Rita Griffin Thomas of Wilson.  She is preceded in death by husbands’ John Lindsay Glover & Mack I. Roberts.  Jean was a resident of Wendell for over fifty years.  She was active in her beloved community as Executive Director of the Wendell Chamber of Commerce.  Jean and her husband, John, owned Glover Realty Company.  She previously owned Kids Stuff- Children’s Store She was a member of the Wendell Christian Church where she directed the youth choir for several years.  Jean was also a member of the Wendell Historical Society, Garden Club, and served as a substitute teacher at local elementary schools.  She also played piano.

She is survived by her three daughters, Virginia Jean Glover of Richmond, VA; Anne Glover Fowler of Wake Forest, and Helen Glover Horton (Joe) of Selma.  Jean has two granddaughters, Lindsey Horton Weaver (Michael) of Raleigh, and Brittany Fowler Poindexter (Jared), two great grandsons, Justin & Jax of Wilmington, and sister, Charlotte Thomas Haene of Charlotte.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Heartland Hospice, 3200 Atlantic Ave., Suite 100, Raleigh, NC, 27604 or any local Hospice Organization.  The family would like to thank The Lodge in Wake Forest and Melaine Marks, CNA, for their support in her care.

The family will receive friends Saturday, 11am – 1 pm, Strickland Funeral Home, 211 W. Third St., Wendell.  A memorial service and the dispersement of her remains will be held at her home place in Wilson.  www.stricklandfuneralhomes.net
