Greta Garbo Hensley McMillan

December 1, 1929 – November 28, 2022

Raleigh – Greta Garbo Hensley McMillan, 92, went to her Heavenly home on Monday.  She was born in Cobb County, GA to the late Cicer Paul & Ober Penland Hensley.  She was a true minister’s wife, a beloved & cherished friend and help mate with her husband.  Greta was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend to many.  Her personality was warm and always brought comfort.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Reverend Charles Lamar McMillan, Jr., siblings, Sam Penland Hensley, & Marble John Hensley.

She is survived by her children, Laura M. Lavin (Pete) of Greenville, David McMillan (Nancy) of Mebane, Beth M. Long (John) of Fuquay – Varina, sister, Sarah Hensley Miles, grandchildren, Sean Lavin (Allison), Joseph Lavin (Catherine), Ben McMillan (Meredith), Meg Jessup (Romondo), Tara Boyd (Chris), Johnny Long (Chassity), Travis Long (Carley), Kristin Long, 15 great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Springmoor Life Care Endowment, 1500 Sawmill Rd., Raleigh, or a charity of choice.

Graveside service 3:15, Sunday, Greenmount Cemetery Wendell.  Visitation 2-3 pm, at Strickland Funeral Home & Crematory, 211 W. Third St. Wendell prior to the graveside service.  www.stricklandfuneral.com

    I have. Fond memories of how she stood by her husband and spent many hour waiting patiently for him. A good example of service. T I thank God for her
