FANNIE RAY SMITH

WENDELL – Fannie Ray Richardson Smith, 88, went home to be with the Lord on Monday morning. She was born in Johnston County, daughter to the late Maude Kemp Richardson and Rufus Bryant Richardson. She was preceded in death in 1997 by her husband of 53 years, Chester Battle Smith, and two brothers and one sister.
Funeral service will be held 11 am Wednesday at Central Baptist Church, 11109 Poole Rd., Wendell. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
She is survived by her son, Ray Smith and wife Donna, and by her daughter, Vickie Smith; grandchildren, Gregory Ray Smith (Karen) and Amanda Joelle Massey (Jimmy); step-grandchildren, Victor and Dylan Massey; great-grandchildren, Luke and Rayleigh Smith, along with many nieces, nephews and friends who loved her dearly.
The family will receive friends 6:00 until 8:00 pm Tuesday at Strickland Funeral Home, Wendell and other times at the home of her daughter.
