Eric Carlyle Dean

Eric Carlyle Dean

Eric Carlyle Dean, 67, of Clayton NC completed his earthly journey on September 25, 2018 at 1:55am surrounded by his loving family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents W.C. and Valeria (Stephenson) Dean and his sister Linda (Barbour) Turner.

He is survived by his loving wife, and best friend, Julie (Wilson) Dean. Daughters Erika (Taylor) Hile, Emily (Jeremy) Shirley, Tammy (Neal) Ciampa, Kim (Bubba) Williams and son, Sonny Smith. He also leaves here to continue his legacy, seventeen grandchildren whom he loved more than God is strong.

Now, each of us would claim that we were his favorite but we all know that that is not true. That title was held by none other than Sir Winston Pointe, his beloved Weimaraner. After that, the spot is again filled by Trump, Fox News and UNC-TV…in that particular order. But hey, we were just happy to have a place in his life.

Eric graduated from North Carolina State University in 1978 with a degree in Civil Engineering, with which he would later return to NC State as their Power Systems Engineering Manager. He later attended UNC-C for his Masters in Public Administration.

There were many things in life that Eric loved. His passion for animals was indescribable. Anything from a domesticated cat to wild squirrels and rabbits were under his pervue. His large, and giving heart will be what is most missed. He was the most giving, and kind man anyone would ever have the pleasure of meeting.

Eric was also very proud of his one-of-a-kind idiosyncrasies. One such “trick”, and his most famous of all, was the “Dean Lean” of which he would be more than happy to demonstrate. He was also very keen to offer up “brisk spankings” when needed. His culinary skills were admired by many…as long as you had a taste for copious amounts of red pepper flakes or Texas Pete.

With all the humor Eric filled everyone’s life with, it was his ability to make every person he ever came into contact with feel like they were one in a million, that will be missed most of all. If you knew Eric, you knew love. His mantra, in which we should all live by, is “There is nothing more to life than to love and be loved.”

A Celebration of Life Visitation will be held 6-7:30pm, Friday, September 28, 2018 at Strickland Funeral Home, 211 W. Third St., Wendell, NC 27591
Private Memorial Service to be held at a later date.

sorry to hear about your loss. I am praying for strength beyond normal, to comfort you and your family. God does Not cause death right now. Time and unforeseen occurrences befall all. Ecclesiastes 9:11. Soon our heavenly father is sure on Earth. Matthew 6:10; Daniel 2:44 .The scripture”, Our father who art in Heaven hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come thy will be done on Earth , as it is in Heaven.” You see it is a government that Jesus will rule as King. It will bring no more pain, no more sorrow, no more tears, no more death. Revelation 21:3-5. The dead will live again, here on Earth. Acts 24:15; Psalms 37:11, 29; Isaiah 26:19. Make sure you look up all the scripture to see this is all true.
