Edwin “Butch” Curtis Goforth

September 30, 1959 – April 21, 2015

ZEBULON – Edwin Curtis Goforth, 55, passed suddenly on Tuesday April 21, 2015.

He was a native of Hartford, Connecticut, and a Weaver High School Alumni.  Edwin

was retired from the United States Navy where he served his country honorably for 20

years.  He worked at the Connecticut Student Loan Foundation before moving to NC.

Lastly he worked at EMC2 where he was an outstanding IT Technician.  He loved telling

long stories and was well read.  He always gave wonderful advice, he was and will

forever be a loving husband, father, son, brother and grandfather.  He will be truly

missed by many.  

Edwin was preceded in death by his father Harry May.  Edwin is survived by his mother

Janet Wilson Goforth of Hartford, Connecticut.  He left behind his wife and best friend of

18 years, Anne Marie Taffe Goforth. Children: Omar Dixon of East Hartford, CT,

D’Marcus Shipman of Monks Corner, SC, Yolanda Bazemore (Kemuel) of Jacksonville

FL, Patricia Dixon, Gena Dixon, both of East Hartford, CT.

Siblings: LaTanya Goforth, Dorine Goforth, Lena Goforth, Wayne Goforth, and Michael

May.Grandchildren:  Malaysia, Amari, & Zion Haughton, Jesse Bazemore IV, Isiah Addison,

Michael Lang, Jr. Chanelle Shipman, Caleb Cousins, and Morgan Brooks.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research

Hospital or to Be the Match (Bone Marrow donation).

Memorial service will be held 4:00 pm, Saturday, May 2, in the Strickland Funeral Home

Chapel, 211 W. Third St., Wendell with a visitation 2:30pm -4:00 pm, prior to the service
