Carolyn Canady Pace

Carolyn Canady Pace

Carolyn Canady Pace, 84, went to her heavenly home on Saturday April 29th surrounded by her family. She was born in Johnston County to Cary Ralph and Mearl Bizzell Canady. She was a Clayton native and a proud graduate of Clayton High School. She married Jerry Garfield Pace, Sr. in 1960 and moved to the farm in Archer Lodge. In addition to being a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, she had a career as an administrative professional at CP&L and First Union Bank.

She was a true pillar of the community serving as a founding member of the White Oak Baptist Church caregivers and was active with the 4H Club. She was known for her cooking and you can find her pound cake recipe in the church cook book. Her grandchildren were the biggest fans of her cooking and everyone had their favorite dishes for MaMa to cook. Friends and family alike knew they could go by for a good meal and sweet hospitality.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 54 years, Jerry Garfield Pace, Sr. She is survived by their children; sons, Jerry Pace, Jr. (Deborah), and Joel Pace (Tammy) both of Archer Lodge, daughters Jeanne Winegar (James) of Wendell and Joan Kanzler (Tim) of Winston Salem, brother Glenn Canady (Kathy), grandchildren, Michelle Pace Davis (Michael), Cara Ruth Pace Dunnavant (Dayton), Sam Winegar (Jamie Lynn), Adam Winegar, Emma, Ava and Sophie Kanzler, Jordan Pace (Jessica), Josie Pace and one great grandson, Liam Graham Davis.

The family would like to thank all the caregivers who lovingly looked after MaMa over the years. In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to be given to the Caregivers Ministry at White Oak Baptist Church (13943 Buffalo Road Archer Lodge, NC 27527).

Visitation is Wednesday May 3rd from 6:30-8:00 at Strickland Funeral Home & Crematory, 211 W. Third St., Wendell, funeral service Thursday May 4th at 11:00 at White Oak Baptist Church in Archer Lodge with a private family burial following.   www.stricklandfuneral.com

Condolences to the family. You sure had a sweet mother, Mother-in-law & grandchildren. We knew Carolyn & Jerry before they got married. We used to be in a BTU class together on Sunday nights. Fond memories.

Carolyn was a very precious lady to me. She touched my life as I was growing up at White Oak and in the community. She was a strong lady of faith and loved her family dearly. She was so blessed to have her family taking care of her and the wonderful and Caregivers that were faithful to her needs. My thoughts and prayers are with you in the days to come. Love Donna

My thoughts and prayers go out to the Pace family. Heaven gained an angel. She was a sweet lady who also greeted you with a smile. She was a strong influence at White Oak and in the Archer Lodge Community. Her strong dedication will always be remembered.
