Carlton Wayne Aycock
September 6, 1954 – July 17, 2014
SPRING HOPE – Carlton Wayne Aycock, formerly of Wendell, 59, passed away this week. A native of Franklin County he was son to the late Lee Pope & Annie Grace Leonard Aycock. Wayne served in the U. S. Army. He worked for Ashland Chemical and later with the Raleigh News & Observer, retiring from both. He loved his wife, Opal King Aycock, who preceded him in death, more than anything. He was an extremely intelligent man who always put others before himself. He was preceded in death by siblings; Annie Mae Taylor, Cora Sue Griffin, & Charles Benjamin Aycock.
He is survived by children; Debbie Bingham (Patrick) of Spring Hope, Ashley Bailey (Sylvia), Gary Bailey (Eleanor) & Rick Bailey, all of Zebulon, siblings, Johnny Ray Aycock (Gladys) of Louisburg, Alice Leonard (Vern) of Goldsboro, Emma Louise Bisette of Samaria, & Myrtle Lee Tharrington of Louisburg, 7 grandchildren, numerous great & great, great grandchildren.
Funeral service 3 pm, Sunday, Corinth Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 1:30 pm – 3 pm in the church fellowship hall prior to the service.
Arrangements are with Strickland Funeral Home, 211 W. Third St., Wendell.
