Bertis Hilton Sellers

Bertis Hilton Sellers passed peacefully at home at the age of 92, Saturday, October 1, 2022.
A service to celebrate the life and salvation of Bertis will be held Monday, October 3rd at 11:00 at Wendell Baptist Church with a visitation immediately following in the large fellowship hall.
Bertis was born August 8, 1930 in Barnesville, NC. He is survived by the love his life for 67 years, Carol Sellers. He was proceeded in death by his parents Rowdy and Emmie Sellers, sister Virginia Shaw, and brother Fay Sellers.
In addition to his wife, Bertis is survived by his children Debbie Turner (Don) of Archer Lodge and Tim Sellers (Gail) of Red Oak; five grandchildren: Kirby Turner (Hope), Heather Woodard (Jeff), Noah Turner (Amanda), Kristy Castleberry (Daniel), and Brandi Cozart (Phillip); and 11 great-grandchildren: Blake, Brice, Banks, Seth, Clay, Abigail, Alex, Cooper, Hilton, Anna Caroline, and Collins.
Mr. Sellers graduated from Campbell University and Wake Forest University. Bertis served our country in the Korean War with the US Army and retired from the NC Department of Corrections. He served on the deacon board, sang in the choir, and was a founding member of the Men’s Ensemble at Wendell Baptist Church. He was also a member of the Wendell Masonic Lodge #565. Bertis loved his family only second to God, and touched the lives of many through baseball and horses. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and a loyal friend to many.
The family sincerely thanks all who have provided care and prayers, especially his home healthcare givers. The outpouring of love through visits, cards, food and prayers have been a tremendous blessing and greatly appreciated. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Wendell Baptist Church.
