Barry Gene Pope
September 20, 1960 – March 7, 2025
ZEBULON – Barry Gene Pope, 64, transitioned from this life early Friday morning, March 7, 2025. Barry was born in Wake County, September 20, 1960, to Ann Patterson and Bobby Ray Pope. He worked as a Correctional Officer with the State of N.C. Barry was naturally a kind and generous person, never shying away from helping those in need. He had an incredible sense of humor, always finding a way to have a good laugh. His legacy will live on in the memories of those he loved dearly. Barry is preceded in death by his father, Bobby Ray Pope.
Barry is survived by his wife of 16 years, Jennifer Hall Pope; children, Chris Pope (Amy), James Lee and Ronald Lee (Christie); mother, Ann Patterson Pope; sister, Terry Knight (Paul).
Memorial Visitation will be held from 6:00pm – 7:30pm, Monday, March 10, 2025 at Strickland Funeral Home & Crematory, Wendell.
Flowers are welcomed or memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choosing in honor of Barry.

I met Officer Pope when he started at JCI. He was a great Officer! I enjoyed talking to him & just being around him. He had a great sense of humor, that’s why we got along so well! Praying for peace, comfort and healing for his family and friends.
Barry, you will be missed by many. I am so Thankful you found Jennifer. She loves you beyond measure. You have an amazing, smart.and talented Son. Loving family. Keep watch over them. Let your presence always be felt. May you Rest in Peace
