Archie Dail Cooke
February 20, 1936 – January 21, 2014
RALEIGH – Archie Dail Cooke,78, died Wednesday. A native of Johnston County he was son to the late Coy Dail & Stella Liles Cooke. Archie played baseball for Louisburg College and served his country in the United States Army. He loved rabbit hunting, baseball, and golf. His grandchildren were the love of his life. He was also preceded in death by a son, Dexter W. Cooke.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Sue Smith Cooke of the home, children, Dennis Gray Cooke (Leighanne) of Pinetown, Dana Cooke Edge (Tim) of Raleigh, brother, Grady Cooke of Clayton, sister-in-law, Virginia Cooke of Danville, VA, grandchildren, Dalton & Dillon Cooke, Trevor & Emily Edge.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to New Life Camp, 9927 Falls of Neuse Rd., Raleigh, NC, 27614, or to Zebulon Baptist Church, 400 N. Arendell Ave., Zebulon, NC, 27597.
Memorial service 6 pm, Friday, Zebulon Baptist Church with visitation to follow in the fellowship hall and other times at the home.
Arrangements are with Strickland Funeral Home, 211 W. Third St., Wendell.
