ALVIN F. BRANTLEY
October 18, 1921 – June 30, 2012
MIDDLESEX – Alvin Floyd Brantley, 90, a servant of God went home to be with the Lord, Saturday. A native of Nash County he was son to the late William & Julia Brantley. Alvin was a World War II Veteran, 149th Infantry, 38th Infantry Division, 1942-1945. He fought many theaters and on many missions including, Hawaii, Philippines, New Guinea, Layette, Corregidor, Fort Drum, Cabalo, Luzon, & Bataan. Mr. Brantley was awarded the American Theater Campaign Medal: Asiatic Pacific Theater Campaign Medal with 3 Bronze Service Stars: Phillippine Liberation Ribbon: Good Conduct Medal Go I 9 HQ, & Victory Medal. He was a painter by trade and much beloved member of his community where he raised his family with his best friend & true love of over 70 years, Hayes, Truemiller Brantley who preceded him in death on June 17, 2012.
He is survived by children, Stanley (Sandra) of Bellhaven, NC, Roger (Lorriane) of Charlotte, Dennis (Ilene) of Middlesex, and Truesa (Danny Ray Peele) also of Middlesex, sister, Marian Brantley Neese (Stanley) of Raleigh, 5 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, 1 step grandson, & 3 Step great grandchildren & numerous other loving cousins & family members.
The family wishes to express special thanks to Betty Sue Whitley & Tommy Ayscue for their caring & support.
Funeral service 11 am, Tuesday, Union Hope Baptist Church with visitation 1 hour prior to the service. Burial with Full Military Honors will follow in the Murray Cemetery.
