Jeanne Reynolds Jones
August 26, 1952 – February 9, 2026
Jeanne Reynolds Jones, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and public servant, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family.
Born on August 26, 1952, in Seattle, Washington, Jeanne was the daughter of Lt. Col. Eugene Franklin Reynolds and Doris Elaine Reynolds. As the child of a military family, she spent her early years traveling the world — living in New York, Italy, and Japan before her family ultimately settled in Atlanta, Georgia. These formative years instilled in her a deep love of country, service to the lord, and a sweet southern soul.
She graduated from Woodward Academy in 1970 and went on to earn her Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from Georgia State University. As a life long Lutheran and faithful servant, Jeanne lived out her values of kindness and service by dedicating her professional life to helping those in need. She spent 13 years working with the Department of Social Services in Atlanta, and later continued her calling supporting students that received special education services with Washington County Public Schools in Maryland. Her work reflected her compassionate spirit and her steadfast belief that every person deserved dignity, care, and opportunity.
From her first marriage, Jeanne was blessed with two children, Christopher and Stephanie. In 1986, she found her life’s partner, CW3 Robert L. Jones III. Together they shared 40 years of devoted marriage, blending their family and welcoming two more children, Robert and Kathryn.
Jeanne and Bob raised their four children with unwavering love, resilience, and deep devotion to one another.
As a proud military wife, Jeanne once again embraced the life she had known in her own childhood, faithfully supporting Bob throughout his career. Their journey took them from North Carolina to Germany and Western Maryland, building a life centered on family, service, and steadfast commitment.
Above all else, Jeanne cherished her family. She took immense pride in being a mother to 4 children and 10 grandchildren. She is survived by her beloved husband, CW3 Robert L. Jones III; her children: Christopher N. Walker (Melody M. Walker), Stephanie E. Meredith (Eric A. Meredith), Robert L. Jones IV (Jennifer L. Jones), and Kathryn R. Cox (Andrew L. Cox); and her treasured grandchildren Lukas, Noah, Pierce, Piper, Eliza Claire, Elizabeth, Robert, Tanner, Caroline, and Emma. As well as several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lt. Col. Eugene Franklin Reynolds and Doris Elaine Reynolds, and her sisters, Roberta L. Stender and Elizabeth A. Bragg.
Jeanne’s life was marked by service, strength, compassion, and unwavering love. She leaves behind a legacy of faithfulness, generosity, and deep devotion to family — a legacy that will continue through the many lives she touched.
The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the dedicated doctors and nurses in the ICU at UNC Health Johnston Hospital in Smithfield, NC for their extraordinary care and kindness.
Services and inurnment celebrating Jeanne’s life will be held privately.
