Yvonne Margaret Nell de Jongh
November 23, 1942 – September 8, 2016
WEST JEFFERSON – Yvonne Margaret Nell de Jongh, 73, died on September 8. She was a native of Springs, South Africa and daughter to the late Gert Stephanus & Susan Collins Nell. Yvonne was a truly creative and excellent artist in many mediums. Yvonne also collected teapots. She was preceded in death by her sister, Dolly Grobler.
She is survived by her husband and best friend of 57 years, Richard John de Jongh of the home, sons, Glenn de Jongh (Amy) of Knightdale, Martin de Jongh (LaVonda) of Wilmington, daughter, Melinda Cooper (Colin) of Zebulon, grandchildren, Michelle Hood (Matt), Desiree Thorson (Cole), Elizabeth, Alexa, & Shelby de Jongh, great grandchildren, Gavin Hood, Cooper & Elliana Thorson.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Heartland Hospice Memorial Fund.
A celebration of her life will be held 11 am, Thursday, Strickland Funeral Home Chapel 211 W. Third St., Wendell. Please feel free to wear cheerful, colorful, casual dress. www.stricklandfuneralhomes.net
