KNIGHTDALE – Willie Earl Marshall, age 76, made his heavenly ascension on Tuesday, July 21, 2026. He was born on July 17, 1950, in Johnston County to the late Willie Thomas and Elnora Watson Marshall. Willie had a servant’s heart, lending a helping hand and taking responsibility upon himself, never asking for anything in return. He was very protective of those around him, claiming Big Brother status amongst his family and peers. Despite never having children, Willie blessed many children with valuable life lessons.

There was never a dull moment with Willie; he seemed to have a way to get others laughing, no matter what the situation. Lastly, we could say Willie had a “need for speed,” as one of his passions in his life was fast cars, be it watching them race or driving them. Willie was a treasure on this earth, a pillar of strength, and though we are saddened by his departure, we rest easy knowing that he is in the presence of our Lord and reunited with those he missed these many years.

In addition to his parents, Willie is preceded in death by wife of 23 years, Sedalla Marshall; brother, James Marshall; sister, Winnie Joyce, and niece, Latasha Person.

He leaves behind to relish his memory, sister, Helen Marshall Person; nephews, Shawn Marshall, Montrell Person, Michael Person, Jr., and Winston Person; nieces, Jamesha Marshall, Valynta Person and Valonda Person; numerous other special nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will take place at 2:00pm on Thursday, July 30, 2026 in the Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home & Crematory.  The family will receive friends for visitation beginning at 1:00pm, prior to the service.  Interment will immediately follow in the cemetery of Lee’s Crossroads Baptist Church.
