WENDELL – Tommie Eleanor Holder Baker Strickland, 90, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday with her family by her side. She was born in Wake County to the late Tommy & Lucille N. Holder, raised by Annie Milton Holder. She retired from Wake Memorial Hospital and then worked as a private sitter. Tommie was a sweet woman with a warm smile whose passion was caring for others. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Joseph G. Baker and Alva Lee Strickland, stepson Lee Strickland Jr., and grandson Curtis Dee Oliver.

She is survived by her daughters, Olivia B Cooke of Wendell, Joette B Oliver (Dee) of Wendell, stepdaughter Anne Cole (Ronnie) of Middlesex.
Grandchildren, John Cooke, Lenore Strickland (Leamon), step grandchild Johnathon Cole and 7 great grandchildren.

Graveside service 11 am. Tuesday, Baptist Tabernacle Church .Family will be at Olivia Cooke, 7855 Applewhite Rd. Wendell.

    Sorry to hear of Mrs. Tommies passing. She looked after my grandmother. She was a special lady. Rest in peace.

    I just found out the beginning of this week and I’m sorry for your loss. Nannie was a compassionate, caring soul and I know her personality will be greatly missed. My heart goes out to the Cooke, Oliver and Strickland families and especially to John, Taylor and Tristan Cooke and “Aunt” Joette and “Uncle” Dee Oliver.
