Thomas Ambrose Kinney
February 8, 1953 – September 19, 2023

WENDELL – Thomas Ambrose Kinney, 70, returned home to be with his Heavenly Father on Tuesday. He was born in Douglas, Arizona to the late Thomas Ambrose and Margaret Shirley Bassford Kinney. He retired from NCR Corporation where he was employed as a service technician for 30 years. Thomas was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend to many and he will be greatly missed by those in his community. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Bob Kinney.

He was involved in his church community, teaching youth catechism, serving as an usher and lector, dedicating time to the community garden, and helping out at the food festival. He loved studying the word of God and was a member of the BOW. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, going on adventures, and spending time with his children and grandchildren. In his youth he played a variety of sports which he carried into adulthood, participating in races, softball, tennis, and basketball. He never met a stranger. He had the soul of an artist and enjoyed creating wood sculptures, paintings, and mixed media works. He was creative and curious about life and had a passion for learning and history. He was deeply rooted in his Irish heritage and enjoyed celebrating it by attending the St. Patricks’ day parade with family and listening to Irish music. He was both contemplative and the life of the party and enjoyed making people laugh with his quick wit and humor. Thom fought the good fight, he has finished the race, and he has kept the faith.

Thomas is survived by his wife of 48 years, Cynthia Marie Fouch Kinney, daughters, Katie (Phil) and Kelly Ann Kinney, granddaughters, June and Phoebe Gorski, brother, Mike Kinney (Judy), and sister, Colleen Wallace (Rob).

Funeral mass for Thomas will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, September 27, 2023 at Saint Eugene Catholic Church. Those who attend are invited to a luncheon in the Saint Eugene’s Social Hall immediately after Mass.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in honor of the memory of Thomas Kinney to Saint Eugene Catholic Church to go towards their upcoming building projects.
