Steven Leroy Sledge

April 19, 1956 – September 27, 2021

WENDELL – Steven Leroy Sledge, 65, went home to be with the Lord on Monday.  He was born in Halifax County to the late Samuel Leroy  Sledge.  He was a man of conscience who cared for his fellow man and especially children in need.  He was preceded in death by his wife, friend, & helpmate, Diana McGuinness Sledge, & daughter, Sarah.

He is survived by sons, Richard, Marcus, Joshua, Patrick, Michael, Jesse, daughter, Melissa, His mother, Sarah Trilby Floyd Sledge., brothers, Robert Sledge (Nancy), Scott Sledge (Tina), grandchildren, Matthew, Emma and Sarah.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Autism Society of NC www.autismsociety-nc.org/donate-online, American Cancer Society www.cancer.org/involved/donate.html, or Methodist Home for Children www.mhfc.org/donate.

Memorial service 10 am, Friday, Strickland Funeral Home & Crematory Chapel, 211 W. Third St., Wendell.  A rosary service will be offered from 9 am – 10 am, prior to the service.  The service will be available at www.facebook.com/stricklandfuneral at a later time. (MASKS REQUIRED)

    I am so sad to hear this. Steve was an amazing Christian, Husband, Father and Friend. I am so sad but feel blessed to have been touched by his loving friendship. I pray God lifts up his family and all of us during our loss. I am joyful to know he with with his beloved, Thank you Steve for all your love.
