Shelly Ann (Hootman) Clements

Shelly Ann Clements, 58, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 27, 2024. Shelly was born on November 14, 1965, in Ashland County Ohio to Maurice, and Cherlynn (Harmon) Hootman.

Shelly graduated from Mount Gilead High School in 1984, and from Rhodes State College in 1987. She worked as a dental hygienist for 28 years until her retirement.

Shelly married Damon Clements on December 28, 1987. She enjoyed spending time with her family and vacationing in the mountains of North Carolina and Tennessee. She also enjoyed collecting tea pots and Tom Clark gnomes, sewing, and cooking. She was diagnosed with Myotonic Muscular Dystrophy and fought the effects of the condition for several years, with that fight ending on her own terms, with courage and dignity. She was preceded in death by her mother, Cherlynn (Harmon) Hootman, and nephews, Grant Levering & Jeremy Clements.

Shelly is survived by her husband and best friend of 36 years, Damon Clements, son, Caden Clements (fiancé Grace Goltz), daughter, Cassidy Clements, father, Maurice Hootman, sisters, Rebecca Hootman & Jennifer Levering with daughter Lindsay.

Friends and family are invited to the Mount Gilead Church of Christ, 322 Iberia St, Mount Gilead, Ohio, at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 18th for a memorial service.
