Sharon Evon Whitley Montague

Sharon Evon Whitley Montague

Sharon Evon Whitley Montague, 47, was peacefully reunited with her loving Savior on March 22, 2018 after a brief stay at UNC Chapel-Hill hospital. Born January 21, 1971 in Raleigh, North Carolina to the late Leandes & Leona Curtis Whitley, Sharon was a life-long resident of Wake County. She attended East Wake High school, and went on to earn a diploma from Wake Technical Community College. Sharon loved God, family, fast cars, Pepsi Cola, Newports, and traveling.

Sharon was blessed by God with many gifts that she freely shared with others. A strong leader, Sharon maintained a deep love for her children, grand-daughter, extended family and friends. Sharon viewed the world, her life, and those who were privileged to know her with a contagious optimism that inspired others. Always smiling, Sharon regularly provided encouraging words to all who crossed her path. She often freely opened her home to those in need, and became a staunch supporter of breast cancer awareness after nursing a sister through a lengthy Stage 4 breast cancer recovery. Her gifts of optimism, encouragement, and charity will be sorely missed.

Sharon’s unwavering faith in God defined her life. One of her favorite Bible verses is found in Philippians 4:13: “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” We know Sharon would wish for us to wipe our tears! As she would tell us if she were here, “God’s got this!” Therefore, we lovingly rejoice in the return of our cherished Sharon to her Creator, and will continue to celebrate her life through memories that we will always hold dear in our hearts.

Sharon is survived by her beloved children Kiara Montague (Jamien Hoggard) of Holly Springs, A. J. Montague of Raleigh, and granddaughter Khloe Montague-Merritt, siblings Bobby Whitley (LeVeda), Shirley Hinton (Jerald), Lee Whitley, Peggy Whitley, Linda Armstrong (Franklin), Leanders Whitley, Neona Martin (Joseph-deceased), John Whitley (Crystal), and Jennifer Oliver.

Visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, March 27, 2018 from 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. at Zebulon First Baptist Church. There will be church service following the visitation. After the church service, Sharon will be interred in the Gethsemane Memorial Gardens, Zebulon. Funeral arrangements are provided by Strickland Funeral Home, 211 W. Third St., Wendell. www.stricklandfuneral.com.

Sharon will truly be missed by many. I will miss my hugs and our conversations. If I was having a bad day and Sharon walked up, she made a way to put a smile on my face. She was an all around sweet lady and I will always remember her by that beautiful smile. We never got a chance to link up outside of work which we were suppose to for my birthday. Sadly I will never forget this day as you was laid to rest on my birthday. May God give your children and family the strength and comfort during this time. Fly High Sharon…Heaven Has Gained An Angel.

I am very sorry for your family’s loss. The loss of a loved one can be the most difficult thing that a person may have to ever experience. Please allow me to share something that has brought me some comfort in difficult times. Revelation chapter 21 and verse 4 says “And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will morning nor outcry nor pain be anymore the former things have passed away.” Imagine a world where death and pain are gone. How beautiful it will be for us also to see our loved ones again as the bible foretells. (John 5:28,29) I hope that this has brought you a measure of comfort. And may the God of all comfort, comfort you during this difficult time.
