Sarah Lynn Meares

Sarah Lynn Meares

On Wednesday, May 1, 2019, Sarah Lynn Meares of Youngsville, NC, passed away at age 31.

Sarah was a brave, fearless, and beautiful young lady. She was very passionate in what she believed in, and she touched the life of every person she met. A true artist, she loved to create, and she lived a life that was all her own. By trade she was a web designer, and had a great appreciation for all things related to art and design. She also enjoyed writing, crocheting, reading and music.

She loved her family deeply, especially her son, Aedyn. He was her heart and her reason for living. She was so proud to be his mother.

For many years, Sarah struggled with addiction. She sought God’s help during the battle. She knew Jesus Christ as her Savior, and in the end it was He who finally decided that Sarah had struggled enough and brought her home peacefully.

Sarah was smart, creative and kind. She would do anything for a friend and always lit up a room with her smile, energy and sense of humor. The memory of her bright smile and sunny disposition will never be forgotten. Our broken hearts will forever feel the loss and emptiness of her absence. The pain of her death is heartbreaking, which is why stories like hers should not be ignored. The only way we will conquer the drug abuse epidemic is to share our stories and raise awareness.

Sarah will be greatly missed by her mother Julia Perry, step-father Hulon, and son Aedyn Baucom of Youngsville; her sister Amanda Morris,  brother-in-law Chris and nephew Calvin of Fuquay-Varina; brother Jeff Meares and nephew Brennan of Knightdale; boyfriend, William Williams of Louisburg; along with extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Tim Meares.

A celebration of her heavenly homecoming will be held at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Wendell on Sunday, May 19, 2019. Time to be announced later this week. All are welcome.

Strickland Funeral Home in Wendell is assisting the family with arrangements. For online condolences, please visit stricklandfuneral.com

In lieu of flowers, donations in Sarah’s name can be made to drug treatment centers to help others who are struggling. Sarah’s legacy through this battle was to fight, and she would encourage others to do the same.

“No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it.” 1 Corinthians 10:13

Amanda, I am so sorry for your loss. Drug addiction is real…it’s a real sickness that some people just can’t overcome. In April 2017, I lost my youngest brother to alcohol and drug addiction. He struggled with the “demons” for so many years. His addictions took a vibrant young man and turned him into someone we hardly recognized. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this most difficult time, Amanda. Remember, God is faithful and He will carry you through this loss. Love to you, Chris, and Calvin. I’m so sorry, she was a very beautiful and talented little girl when I was around her in her adolescence. I’m sorry that she had to be taken from her son. And I hope someone will be inspired to make a change in their life because of her story.

    Amanda-
There will never be enough soothing words to ease the ache and the pain. Your obituary is a beautiful tribute to a woman that sounds amazing and someone I could call a friend. Thank you for your openness and frankness. It’s true that unless more people know the extreme toll drugs take one people, we cannot and will not address it as a societal problem. My heart is with you and your family now and forever. Peace.

Sarah was my bestfriend for over 15 years. She was one of the smartest, bravest, most beautiful women I have ever met. It is because of her that I continue to fight. Sarah will always hold a special place in my heart. Sarah is in peace now with the lord. Until We meet again.
