Samuel Joseph Horton
November 5, 1949 – November 22, 2020
Selma – Samuel Joseph Horton “Joe”, 71 Passed away unexpectedly on Sunday at his home. He was born in Lenoir County to Charles and Helen Lynn Horton. He was the proud proprietor of Horton Hauling Company for more than 15 years.
Joe was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Joe enjoyed go-kart racing and fishing with friends for many years and has traveled all over the country. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who knew him.
Joe is survived by his wife of nearly 40 years, Helen St. Claire Horton, daughter, Lindsey Horton Weaver (Isaac Welker); son, Shannon Horton (Barbara); grandchildren, John-Lindsay Weaver, Charlotte St. Claire Welker, Raley Horton, Kenzie Welker and Tatum Welker; 3 sisters, Pamela Bunch (Danny), Deborah Gray, and Susan Barron; 3 nieces and 3 nephews, Christy Peterson, Abigail Gray, Brittany Poindexter, Matthew Bunch, Tyler Bunch and Zachary Barron.
He was preceded in death by his Mother, Helen Lloyd, Stepfather and the man who raised him, Macon Lloyd, and Charles Horton, his biological father.
A memorial service to honor the life of Samuel “Joe” Horton will be held at a later date.
