Ruby Carroll Phillips Batten

November 2, 1932 – May 26, 2023

WENDELL – Ruby Carroll Phillips Batten, 90, went home to be with the Lord and be reunited with her beloved husband early Friday morning.  She was born in Johnston County to the late Elijah & Ida Pittman Phillips.  Carroll was a farmer’s wife and worked for the N. C. D. M. V.  She was a much beloved member of Clyde’s Chapel Baptist Church.  Carroll loved being with her children, grandchildren, & great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Genell Batten, her daughters Doreen and Janet Batten, an infant son, her siblings Audrey Price, Wilton Phillips, and Bill Phillips, and her grandson Jonathan Genell Batten.

She is survived by her children, Sherman Batten (Cindy), Brenda Batten, both of Wendell, grandchildren, Valerie Montjoy (Marvin), Daryl Brantley, Randall Batten (Cortney), great-grandchildren, McKenzie Brantley & Parker Batten.

In lieu of flowers memorials are requested to Clyde’s Chapel Baptist Church Memorial Fund or the White Oak Baptist Church Caregivers.

Funeral service 3 pm, Monday, Clyde’s Chapel Baptist Church with Visitation from 2-3 pm, prior to the service.  A burial will follow in the church cemetery.
