Ronald Warren Perry, affectionately known as “Tom”, departed this earth into eternal rest, Saturday, April 29, 2023. Born September 21, 1930, to the late Oscar Walter Perry and Violet Clair Strother Perry of Zebulon NC, he is predeceased by his siblings, Windel Hayes Perry, Gerald Wayne Perry, Oscar Walter Perry Jr., Shirley Grace Perry Priola, and Gwen Marilyn Perry Moore.
Tom is also predeceased by his wife of 39 years and the mother of his children, Mary Louise Huffman Perry.
Tom spent his childhood years growing up farming with his family and grandparents in the Hopkins community outside Zebulon. He served in the Army at Fort Belvoir and Fort Meade with a tour in Germany. He also served in the Navy and was honorably discharged from both branches. After military service, he and his family settled in Zebulon where he worked running Merita bread routes and completing civil engineering and excavation projects for future highways such as I-40. Tom relocated to Baltimore Maryland working with Williams Construction and Calhoun Construction until he retired. Tom enjoyed going to Pimlico Racetrack watching the horses run, always had stories to tell and was an extremely attractive man.
Tom is survived by his wife, Janice Asbury Perry of the home, his children, Ginger Marilyn Perry Hinnant (Proctor), Timothy Warren Perry (Trixie), Damon Shane Perry (Kayleen), Toni Gail Perry Conoley (Tim) and Terri Lynn Perry. Tom is also survived by his grandchildren, Cynthia Hawley Lamp, Willard Proctor “Trey” Hinnant III (Alli), Patrick Warren Perry, Vanessa Leigh Perry, Stephen Allen “Stevie” Perry (Amber), Shannon Nicole Perry, seven great grandchildren, one great great grandchild along with many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends to mourn his passing.
Immediate inurnment, 11 a.m., Saturday, May 20, 2023, at Hopkins Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery, 4525 Hopkins Chapel Road, Zebulon NC 27597. Those who loved Tom are invited to come and witness the rendering of military honors.
