September 11, 1930 – October 15, 2022

ZEBULON – Ronald Lee Richards, 92, went home to be with his Lord & Savior on Saturday, October 15th, 2022.  He was born in Wake County to the late Buck Baxter & Nellie Roberson Richards.  He served his country honorably in the U. S. Air Force.  Ronald retired after many faithful years of service from Westinghouse in Raleigh, NC.  He was a devout Christian who loved his church community and dedicated his life to being a fisher of men.  Ronald was preceded in death by his sons Ronald Thomas, Charles Glenn & Kenneth “Pee Wee” Richards, grandchildren Ronald Michael & Jennifer Nicole, siblings, Woodrow, Baxter, Clifford, Fernie & Donald Richards, Marcia Leffingwell, Nakita Beddingfield, & Estelle R. Jones.

He is survived by his beloved wife and best friend of 72 years, Betty Faye Massey Richards of the home, children, Dennis “Red” Richards, Linda Bryant (Dickey), Phyllis Scudder (Paul), Rhonda Paxton (Dave), grandchildren, Thomas Richards, Chris Gill (Lynsey), Chad Richards (Jenny), Jason Bryant (Alycia), Lindsay Gill, Emily Richards & Anna Paxton, siblings, Arie Jane Horton, Vadie McLamb, and many loving great grandchildren, nieces & nephews.  

Funeral 2 pm, Tuesday, Union Chapel Baptist Church with visitation with the family will be from 12:30 – 2 pm, prior to the service.  Burial will follow in the Massey Family Cemetery located in Pilot, NC.

Arrangements are with Strickland Funeral Home & Crematory, 211 W. Third St., Wendell.

    My heart is broken.I loved my uncle with my whole heart. I know he is with my Mom now and they and their other siblings are at peace. Love to Betty Faye and family.
