WENDELL – Robert Cecil Cooke, 70, died Thursday. He was born in Wake County to the late Robert Cecil & Betty Joe Rivers Cooke. Robbie was a self-made business man who owned Fortrans. He was an innovative in technological advances and inventions in his field. He was a drummer in the Fabulous Affairs and other bands. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, NC State, & creating cherished memories with his family on their boat. Robbie loved being a grandfather, that was something he relished.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Joy Deaton Davenport; children, Jeremy Cooke (Jen) of Tampa, FL, Laurin Ritchie (Dave) of Raleigh; sister, Sharon Wilder (Ted) of Raleigh; grandchildren, Joy & Allen Ritchie.

In lieu of flowers memorials are requested to the Davenport Family Scholarship at Chowan University or your local SPCA.

Visitation 6-7:30 pm, Monday, Strickland Funeral Home, 211 W. Third St., Wendell & other times at the home.
