WENDELL – Robert “Bob” Lee Shuman, 92, went to his Heavenly home on Friday. He was born in Bulloch County, GA to the late Claude & Bessie Viola Basemore Shuman. Bob was a kind man with a warm and loving heart. He served his country in the U. S. Army as well as U. S. Air Force. He worked in civil service for 26 years. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Dot Smith Shuman, granddaughter, Laura Starling, siblings, Lester Shuman, Geneva Collins, & Annie Mae Hollingsworth.
He is survived by his wife, Marie Lewis Shuman, daughter, Jean Starling (Wayne) of Wendell, step-children, Ginger Preddy of Franklinton, Tim Davis (Judy), grandchildren, Josh Starling (Camber), Casey Holmes (Blaine), Johnnie Scott (Brooke), Tim Davis, Jr. (Kerry), great grandchildren, Grayson, Braxton, Trent, Austin, Lillie, Davis, Colton, Collin, Keira & Kyla.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Kennedy Children’s Home, 2557 Cedar Dell Ln, Kinston, NC 28504 in honor of Pastor Glen Brock or Transitions Life Care, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC, 27607.
Funeral 3 pm, Monday, Strickland Funeral Home & Crematory Chapel, 211 W. Third St., Wendell. Livestream www.facebook.com/stricklandfuneral. Bob will lie in state Sunday from 12-4 pm, at Strickland Funeral Home & Crematory.

Jean, I am so sorry to hear about your loss. Uncle Bob was a special part of my like in my high school days and I loved him and Granny Dot both so much. Uncle Bob carried us to a lot of ballgames and I spent a lot of days and night with all of you. Good times and memories. I am so glad I got to share all days with your family.He was such a good and loving family man and I am sure he is rejoicing in heaven with Granny Dot and our Heavenly Father. We loved Mr. Bob! He was always smiling and helping us out at our restaurant, from serving, washing dishes and rolling silverware! He could put down a fish plate for sure! We sure will miss him! He is in much better place now. Marie, we love you and will be here for you!

Marie and family so sorry to hear about Mr Bob he always brighten our day on Sunday morning visiting our Sunday School class every Sunday .he was a very loving,caring person.we will always remember his friendly and caring nature. Had the pleasure to serve with Bob and Marie on our church bereavement meals team for many years. Bob was such a joy to work with, always willing to help wherever needed. I will miss him so much, but the memories are forever. All my love to Marie and the family

I am so sorry to hear that Mr. Bob passed away. I will truly miss seeing him and hearing him pray at church. I will truly miss my Sunday morning hugs from him.
