Rickie was a kind, generous man, one who would help his neighbors with anything. More times than I can count, he was there to help me, often on his lawn mower or with a leaf blower in hand. He made it his duty to take care of his neighborhood and strove to keep it beautiful and tidy. Truthfully, his calling card was kindness. He once tried to explain to me why he did so much for others by saying, “I’m family. I’m family like Willie Nelson.” I knew exactly what he meant then–that there is something that binds us together, something that we have in common which makes good deeds worth doing. That was Rickie Cole, and I will miss him.
