February 24, 1949 – August 7, 2018

WENDELL – Ralph Dixon “Dickey” O’Neal, was born in Johnston County to the late Elton & Rachel Boykin O’Neal. He worked at Gregory Poole in the Emergency Power Generator Rental Department for over 42 years. Dickey enjoyed car shows, antique tractor pulls, and working all the special events for Gregory Poole. He was a brilliant & simple man who will be fondly remembered by his family & friends.

Funeral service 2 pm, Friday, Baptist Tabernacle Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Kathryn Alford O’Neal of the home, son, Kevin Dixon O’Neal and his wife Sheila Bunn O’Neal of Wendell, grandchildren, Andrew Dixon, Dylan Matthew, & Emily Rachel O’Neal, sister-in-law, Sherry Alford, uncle, Albert Boykin, & special friend, Gayle Stephenson.

Visitation 6-7:30 pm, Thursday, Strickland Funeral Home, 211 W. Third St. Wendell & other times at the home of his son, Kevin. www.stricklandfuneral.com

    I am so sad to hear of Mr. O’Neal’s passing. He was a great guy to wait on when I worked at Northern Tool and Equipment when he would come in for tools and supplies. you are in my thoughts and prayers.

    Kathryn, I’m sending love and prayers to you and the family and this time of sorrow . Ralph (aka Sugar daddy) was a very special man to me he kept me laughing all the time he always had a word of encouragement for me when I was down or going through crisis, so I just want to say again THANK YOU RALPH “.He will be greatly miss. And The name SUGAR DADDY came from One day he came into the shop GP Rental and told me he had me a present and out comes a giant candy bar in a plastic holder from behind his back. ( lol) And I still got that candy bar today . My sister has hers as well. Mom Kathryn now you have a Sugar daddy Angel watching over you and the family . Much Respect
