ZEBULON – Phyllis Brantley O’Neal, 77, of Zebulon, NC, went Home to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 30, 2026.

Phyllis was born in Nash County, NC, on November 17, 1948, a daughter of the late Lonnie Edward Brantley and Ethelene Hinnant Brantley. She worked as a teacher’s assistant for Wake County Public Schools. In her spare time, she loved crafts and painting. She was of the Christian Faith.

She is survived by a son, Ray O’Neal, Jr. (Lesia); a daughter, Christy Murray (Joseph); six grandchildren, Morgan O’Neal, Mallory Williams (Trevor), Zachery Taylor Tant (Chelsea), Josie Brown (Carlton), Jodie Murray (Tristan), and Joseph Murray, Jr.; three great grandchildren, Ava Williams, Austin Williams, and Jasper Tant; a brother, Jerry Wayne Brantley (Regina); three sisters-in-law, Becky Brantley, Lynda Williams (Johnny), and Peggy O’Neal; and a brother-in-law, Bob Bizzell.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Jimmie Ray O’Neal, Sr.; a brother, Larry Brantley; a sister, Diane Strickland, three sisters-in-law, Sue Martin, Shirley Narron, and Faye Bizzell; and four brothers-in-law, J.D. Strickland, Jim Martin, J. W. O’Neal, and Jimmy Narron.

A Funeral Service will be held on September 3, 2026, at 2:00 PM, at Strickland Funeral Home and Crematory Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM. Interment will follow the service in the Murray Family Cemetery.

The family would like to give special thanks to Helen, Blake, and their staff at The Maple by Senior Fluent in Zebulon, for their excellent care of Mrs. O’Neal.
