Pauline F. Christiansen, 87, of Knightdale, went home to be with her Savior Saturday, October 31, 2020. Born March 3, 1933 in Beloit, Wisconsin, Pauline was the daughter of Paul F. and Caroline E. Zimmerman (both deceased) and the big sister of Peter Zimmerman (deceased).
Baptized, confirmed, and married at St. John Lutheran Church, Beloit, WI, Pauline spent her childhood and youth in southern Wisconsin and graduated from Beloit High School in 1951. She was married to Charles W. Christiansen for 66 years, who proceeded her in death. Throughout their marriage, Pauline and Chuck traveled extensively, lived in eight states, and raised five children. She is survived by 4 children, daughter Kandy Johnson (Dennis), Knightdale, NC; son Keith (Shirley), Sibley, Iowa; daughter Kathy Hudspith (Al), Auburn, AL; son Kurt, Knightdale, NC; and daughter-in-law Debbie Christiansen (son Kenny deceased), Knoxville, TN. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren (one deceased) and 19 great-grandchildren.
Tending to the spiritual well-being of her family was one of Pauline’s greatest joys. God gave her the gifts of service, encouragement, and showing mercy. One of her favorite scripture passages was Proverbs 22:6 “Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not turn from it.” Pauline often referred to herself as “Pollyanna” and those who knew her well would agree. She was optimistic and cheerful, someone who always saw the good in others and looked to God in every situation. Pauline’s faith and trust in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, carried her through many things including the loss of a grandson (1995), daughter-in-law (2012), son (2018), and husband (2019). A verse from one of her favorite hymns truly reflects the life she lived, “I am trusting Thee to guide me, Thou alone shalt lead. Every day and hour supplying All my need!” Pauline lived her life in witness to her Lord.
