Patricia Canipe Pruett
January 21, 1959 – May 3, 2026
Patricia Canipe Pruett, 67, of Wendell, NC, tragically passed away on May 3rd, 2026. She was born in Anchorage, Alaska on January 21st, 1959, to David and Marie. She was affectionately known as Diane by her family, being the 3rd oldest of her 10 siblings. Patricia grew up in the mountains of North Carolina before moving around to different locations, settling down in Wendell for the last 20 years. She was a true fighter, triumphing over many battles. Patricia was a fierce and loving woman who would go to any lengths for the ones she loved.
Patricia is preceded in death by her mother, Marie Addington; father, David Canipe, Sr.; sisters, Sandi (Sam) Shehadeh, Kim Addington, and Elena Johnson; brothers, David Canipe, Jr. and Johnny Murray; along with one niece, Teggie, one great nephew, Heema and one great niece, Dani.
Patricia is survived by her loving and devoted husband of almost 50 years; Randy Pruett; son, Eric Paris; daughter, Jessica Pruett; one granddaughter, Brittany Pruett; three grandsons, TJ Pruett, Eric Paris, Jr. and Julian Paris; sisters, Glenna Allen Schnabel and Teresa Sauder; brothers, Martin Canipe, Ernest Jr (Billie Jo) Addington and Timmy Addington; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Growing up Patricia was always the most playful and energetic little girl. Out exploring the woods, playing in the secret playhouse on her grandma’s farm, or just getting into typical mischief with her brothers and sisters. Having a job at 16, Patricia worked her way into a management position in the restaurant business. She met the love of her life in 1979, starting a family soon after. Patricia dedicated her entire life to her family. Being a loving wife to Randy and raising her #1 daughter and #1 son, loving them all more than life itself. Once her grandchildren came along, Patricia found a type of love she had never imagined. She was always there whenever anyone needed anything and would gladly give you the shirt off her back. To know her was to be loved by her. Even after getting a terminal diagnosis years ago, Patricia always had a never quit, never give up kind of personality and continuously spread that mindset to everyone she knew. Patricia’s love will be remembered and felt by all who knew and loved her.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00pm on Friday, May 8, 2026, in the Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home & Crematory with Pastor Glen Brock officiating. The family will receive friends for visitation from 12:00pm – 1:00pm, prior to the service.

I am so sorry for your loss. She was always sweet when I was her nurse. I will keep all of you in my prayers
Oh, Trish…..it’s so hard to find this out. You were my best friend in high school and we spent so much time together, at your house and going out on dates together. I was there for good times and some bad times. When we reconnected on FB you didn’t mention that you were sick. I wish you had told me. I would have walked through it with you. Thank you for the memories I have of us, the fun we had and the things that we went through together. This breaks my heart – just unbelievable. It’s going to take a minute to wrap my head around this. I always loved you, girl, and I always will. You will always be my best friend. May God comfort your family and surround them through such a tough time. I miss you, my friend. I always will.
