ZEBULON – Neldon “Sonny” Douglas Bouren, Jr. (81) of Zebulon, NC, passed away unexpectedly on April 7, 2026. He was born on February 22nd, 1945, in Susquehanna, Pennsylvania, to Neldon Bouren Sr. and Gladys Tennant Bouren.

Sonny was a family man who enjoyed puttering in his garage and restoring his Corvette and trucks. He was well known for being able to fix everything and often spent time working on parts and tools for others, simply to lend a hand. Sonny was an avid coin collector and often spent nights researching and discussing their value with his children and grandchildren. He always looked forward to his weekly coffee “with the boys”, Norm & Ed, and never failed to have a great story to tell about his well-lived life.

Along with his parents, Sonny was preceded in death by his loving wife, Linda. He is survived by his four children, Sonya Bouren (Jake), Wayne Bouren (Amy), Linette Blewett (Brett), and Todd Bouren (Charity); five grandchildren, Zachary Bouren (Sara), Jacob Bouren (Kaitlyn), Ashlee Sherwood (Eric), Payton Bouren, and Colby Bouren; and two great-grandchildren, Tripp and Ezra.

A memorial visitation will be held from 4-5:30 on Saturday, April 11th, at Strickland Funeral Home. & Crematory. Following the visitation, the family invites you to gather to share memories over a meal at 1832 Morphus Bridge Road, Wendell, NC, at 6:00 PM.
