Mildred Ruth Williams Flora

Mildred Ruth Williams Flora, 96, passed away on February 25, 2020.  Mildred was born to the late Robert Lee and Ruth Proctor Williams on May 10, 1923 in Wilson County, NC.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Fred Elton Flora, Sr., sons Mickey S. Flora and Melvin M. Flora, brothers, Vernon, Rufus, and W.T. Williams, sisters, Daisy Green, Helen Hill, Marie Ruffin and Jeanette Garner.

Mildred once said that she “was so happy that God had made her to love people.”  She developed many lasting relationships while residing in Murfreesboro, Rocky Mount, Greensboro, and Wendell, NC.  She was a member of Wendell Baptist Church and enjoyed her friends there.  She was also active in the worship services held at Robinwood.

Mildred loved the outdoors, and being close to nature.  She enjoyed playing golf, gardening, and especially fishing trips to the coast with her family and sisters.  Later in life she became interested in art, especially painting.  But she loved nothing more than having her family visit on the weekends to enjoy a home cooked meal together.

She will be remembered for her warm smile and happy disposition.  She will be dearly missed.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, children, Fred E. Flora, Jr. (Faye) of Virginia Beach, VA, Butch Flora (Lynn) of Raleigh, Annette Carrico (Sam) of Wilmington, daughters-in-law Faye N. Flora of Bolivia, and Margie Billows of Barefoot Bay, Florida.  Grandchildren; Mickey S. Flora, Jr., Adam Flora, Scott Flora (Brigit), Melanie Flora, Chris Flora, James Flora, Alex Flora and Erin Carrico, and great grandson, Sutton Flora, and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank all of her friends and caregivers for their love, support and prayers from Robinwood, Wendell Baptist Church and Transitions Life Care of Wake County.

In Lieu of Flowers, Memorials may be sent to Wendell Baptist Church, for WMU: Pure Water, Pure Love.

Funeral Service will take place Saturday, March 7, at 12pm with Visitation, 11 – 11:45am, prior to the service.  Services will be held at Strickland Funeral Home & Crematory, 211 W. Third St., Wendell.  www.stricklandfuneral.com

I am sorry for the loss of such a dear soul that Mildred was to so many. May God hold each of you close & blanket you with His comfort in the days & times ahead. It is never easy to let go of our loved ones but we can all know that she is in a better place & I know that Heaven rejoices! I have so many wonderful memories of her & I will forever be grateful that God allowed our lives to touch on this earth.
Hold on to the good memories that each of you have as you wait for that Great Reunion someday! You are in my prayers…Much love & sympathy to all ~ Brenda
