Mary Howard Warrick Hignutt
January 28, 1947 – September 26, 2022
WENDELL – Mary Howard Warrick Hignutt, 75, passed away on Monday. She was born in Pitt County to the late Howard Warrick and Mary Jane Denton Warrick. She devoted her life to her family as a homemaker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Raymond “Ray” Bennett Hignutt and siblings, Elmo Vann Warrick and Margie Warrick Hudson.
She is survived by her children, Vicki Ledford (Michael) and Matt Hignutt (Ann); grandchildren, Brittany Ledford (Wesley Wright), Madisyn Ledford (Joe Caldwell), and Gavin Ledford. She is also survived by sisters, Ginger Griffin and Joyce Adair (Duane); Warrick nieces: Kirby, Patty, Sandy, and Debbie; Hignutt nieces and nephews: Wendy, Tommy, Tiff, Damon, and families; Denton families; great nieces; great-great nieces and nephews, and many dear friends.
She was also preceded in death by her beloved cat, Toby.
Funeral Service, 12:00 pm, Friday, September 30, 2022, in the Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home & Crematory, 211 W. Third St., Wendell, NC 27591. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 11:00 – 11:45 am. Graveside service will follow at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens, 809 W. Gannon Ave., Zebulon, NC 27597.

Our hearts are saddened by Mary’s passing, even as our souls sense that she is no longer suffering from this world’s struggles and is now at peace, welcomed into the portals of Heaven and into that community of God’s beloved, celebrating reunion with her departed loved ones and her beloved Ray. .
