Marjorie Carter Lynch

WENDELL – Mrs. Lynch was born in Stoneville, NC, the daughter of the late Benjamin Muse Carter and Mary Matthews Carter. She graduated from Averett College in Danville, VA and worked for the Rockingham County Department of Social Services before her marriage. She devoted her life to family and church. At the time of her death, she was a member of Wendell Baptist Church where she served as church pianist and choir member for many years. Her special passion was working with the Senior Adult “Joy Group,” where she served as leader and music director. She was a member of the Thursday Afternoon Study Club and was an avid bridge player. She was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, John Irving Lynch, Jr. and her daughter, Patricia Lovell.

She is survived by daughter, Jennie Mays of Raleigh; granddaughter Patricia Williamson and husband, Reggie, of Atlanta, GA; grandson John Paula of Raleigh; sister Frances Quick of Eden, NC; niece Mary Frances Collins and husband Chuck of Smithfield, NC; and nephew E. Mack Quick of Mountain City, TN.

The family is deeply grateful to all who cared for Marjorie in her illness and expresses special gratitude to the staff at Brighton Gardens of Raleigh and Hospice of Wake County.

A memorial service celebrating Marjorie’s life will be held Monday, April 30, at 11:00 a.m. in the Strickland Funeral Home Chapel, 211 West Third St., Wendell, NC. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home. www.stricklandfuneralhomes.net
