Manuel Phil Puckett

September 4, 1949 – February 15, 2026

Manuel Phil Puckett, 76, of Zebulon, NC, passed away on Sunday, February 15, 2026.

Mr. Puckett , known as Phil, was born on September 4, 1949, a son of the late Manuel Garner Puckett and Ira Susan Lewis Puckett.  He lived in Nash County for over fourteen years before moving to Wake County.  He held many positions throughout his life working for the Department of Corrections, as a driver for Eagle Transport, and as a certified plumber, HVAC technician, and welder.  In his spare time, he enjoyed riding motorcycles with friends and welding. A true handyman, there was nothing he couldn’t fix. If something was broken, he would study it, tinker with it, and somehow make it better than before. He believed in doing things the right way, even if it took longer, and he took pride in the work of his hands. We will remember him for his calloused hands, strength, and courage.

Phil proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and retired as Sergeant First Class with the National Guard Armory.  His time in service shaped the man he became—he gained resiliency, discipline, and strength.

He was a member of the VFW of South Wake County.  He was of the Christian Faith.

He was married to Sheila Carlyle Puckett, who passed away on Tuesday, February 17, 2026.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by three sisters, Reather Ann Puckett, Betty Sue Bledsoe, Flora Jane Pierce; and a brother, Jerry Puckett.

He is survived by two sons, Anthony Puckett and wife Deborah, and Christopher Puckett; a granddaughter, Samantha Carol; and a sister, Jean Pendagraph.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at 2:00 PM, at the Lewis Family Cemetery, 179 Carlyle Rd, Zebulon, NC, 27597, with Pastor Tim Hopkins officiating.

The family welcomes flowers or memorial donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Foundation.

Arrangements are with Strickland Funeral Home and Crematory, 211 W. Third St., Wendell, NC, www.stricklandfuneral.com
