Lula “Catherine” Tart

Lula “Catherine” Tart, age 87 of Wendell, NC went to rest eternally with her heavenly father August 14th, 2024.

Catherine was born on March 2nd, 1937 to the late Rev. Leon Moran Brock Sr. & Willie Jane Pope Brock of Clinton, NC. Catherine graduated from Clinton High School. After high school, Catherine began working at Reynolds Drug Store as a soda clerk in downtown Clinton, where she met her husband, Lewis. The two married August 2nd, 1959 and began their family, welcoming their first child, Phil, less than a year later.

Catherine was a devout follower of Jesus Christ. Being raised in a loving Christian home she was raised to love and serve all those that she encountered. She would proudly tell you she was a member of Wendell United Methodist Church and that she had been a Methodist all her life. Serving her family as a mother and grandmother was her greatest joy in life as she taught her family to love the Lord. She enjoyed serving in many ministries of the church and singing in the choir.

Catherine was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Putman Tart, of 60 years. She was also preceded in death by her parents and her siblings Wanda Pittman (Rudy), Leon Brock Jr. (Sue), Donald Brock (Cindy), and Billy Brock. She is survived by her three loving children, Phil Tart, Allen Tart, and Dolly Cannon (Charles) and two beautiful grandchildren, Emma Mulvaney (Chandler) and Ashton Mullen (Nate).

Visitation will be Saturday, August 17th, 10:00 am – 11:00 am at Wendell United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall 129 N. Main Street, Wendell, NC. A funeral will be held in Catherine’s memory on Saturday, August 17th 11:00 am at Wendell United Methodist Church followed by a graveside service at Greenmont Cemetery in Wendell, NC. The family will receive visitors at the home of Charles and Dolly Cannon, 913 Trumpet Vine Ct. Wendell, NC 27591.
