September 20, 1955 – April 3, 2024

ZEBULON – Louis Taurino Zayas, 68, returned home to his Heavenly Father on Tuesday, April 3rd. Louis was born in Manhattan, New York to late parents Louis Taurino Zayas and Gloria Maria Ayala.

He is preceded in death by his parents; sister Eva Zayas Estrada; brother George Zayas, and sister-in-law Norma Zayas.

Louis is survived by his wife, Sharon Lewis of Zebulon, NC; sons, Timothy Zayas of Iowa and Coty (Danielle) Zayas of Illinois; siblings Josephine (Paul) LaPrade of New York; Joseph (Ronda) Zayas of Youngsville, NC; Ruben (Robert) Zayas of FL; Maria (Christopher) Clark of Raleigh, NC; and Eduardo (Lauri) Zayas of Raleigh, NC. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and his church family at St. Eugene Catholic Church.

Louie made friends everywhere he went. He is fondly remembered by those who knew him in Iowa, Vermont, North Carolina, and those who grew up with him in Harlem. He was proud of his Puerto Rican heritage and enjoyed playing the congas. He loved woodworking, eating seafood whenever possible, spending time at the coast, and the Miami Dolphins, win or lose. But most of all he loved and was proud of his sons, Timothy and Coty.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Saint Eugene Catholic Church’s Building Fund for their future building projects.

Mass of Resurrection will be held Friday, April 12th from 11:00 am at Saint Eugene Catholic Church, 608 Lion’s Club Road, Wendell, NC 27591. A luncheon will follow in the Saint Eugene parish hall.
