Leroy Dalton Batten

August 1, 1943 – July 3, 2024

Leroy Dalton Batten, 80, died on Wednesday, July 3, 2024.  He was born in Durham, NC, to the late Lero Dalton Batten and Louise Hinton Batten. Leroy was an Army veteran, proud of his service to his country. Later in life, he worked as a facilities manager at Fresenius Kabi pharmaceutical in clayton. In his free time, you could find him fishing, hunting, or according to his family, TALKING.

He is survived by his wife, Ellen Godwin Batten; sons, Leigh Batten (Mary) and Neil Batten (Marinda); brothers David Batten (Margaret) and Wayne Batten (Pam); sisters, Linda Burgess (Jimmy) and Jackie Utley (Jim); and grandchildren, Logan Mingin (Hunter), Shayna Batten, Dalton Batten (Keanan), Al Batten, and several other beloved grandchildren.

A visitation will be held from 12:30-2:00 pm, Saturday, July 6, 2024, at Baptist Tabernacle Church. The funeral will follow at 2 pm in the church sanctuary. Rev. Glen Brock will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to support The Veterans Fishing Fund which is a foundation of North Carolina, Inc.  It is an honor to work with the family to provide funds for Veterans who enjoy the sport of fishing.  Please make your tax deductible checks payable to Veterans Foundation of North Carolina Inc., earmarked for Veterans Fishing Fund and mailed to PO Box 25042 Raleigh, NC, 27611.

    To Ellen and family. My prayers and thoughts are with you and family. L.D. was one of my favorite cousins. I have great memories that will be with me until he and I meet again
    someday.
